NEW MEXICO:

Borrower Benefits are available for New Mexico residents and non-residents who attend New Mexico colleges and universities, as well as for New Mexico residents who attend and colleges and universities out of state:

Stafford

• 0% origination fee & default fee to student (NMSL pays these.)
• .25% interest rate reduction for electronic payment.
• 5% principal reduction rate after 48 monthly, on-time payments.
• 0% interest rate on loans for public school teachers, doctors, and nurses who work in New Mexico. 

Plus and Grad Plus

• 3% Origination fee rebated and 1% default fee paid by NMSL.
• .25% interest rate reduction for electronic payment.
• 5% principal reduction rate after 48 monthly, on-time payments.
• 0% interest rate on loans for public school teachers, doctors, and nurses who work in New Mexico.
