Higher Education
The most important investment in your future.

For more than 40 years, the New Mexico Educational Assistance Foundation has helped students and families make informed decisions about paying for college. From scholarships and grants to savings and student loans, we help you understand your options and plan for your future.
We host FAFSA Workshops throughout New Mexico to help students and families complete the FAFSA. Workshop attendees who have completed their FAFSA are eligible to enter for a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship by submitting the FAFSA $1,000 Scholarship Form.

Our Best Advice to Fund Higher Education
#1
Submit the FAFSA for Federal Student Loans & Grants
The FAFSA is the #1 most important application for getting financial aid and the only way to get access to grants and federal student loans. Federal Student Loans have the lowest interest rates and the best repayment options. Many schools also use the FAFSA to award grants, scholarships and other financial aid. It’s important to submit the FAFSA as early as possible.
#2
Apply for Scholarships, Grants, and Other Programs
Scholarships and grants are the best way to get free money for college as students do not need to repay these. Many universities also offer work-study programs to help students finance college while working part-time. Be sure to submit your FAFSA before applying for these programs, as many programs use that information to determine eligibility.
#3
Apply for a Private Student Loan from NMEAF
Private student loans are a good option to pay for college but should only be used after all other avenues for financial aid are explored. We offer a variety of fixed-rate private student loans to finance higher education. We are the oldest New Mexico-based non-profit organization issuing private student loans and have distinct advantages over large national banks.
